About Ryan Andrews

Ryan Andrews is a queer actor and playwright originally from Portland, Oregon, completing his MFA in Acting at Indiana University.

His original solo musical, Ryan Wants a Jimmy Award, is a queer delusion on national themes—a glittering, heartfelt exploration of ambition, identity, and high belting. Following the show’s premiere at the Waldron Firebay, the piece will continue development as Ryan returns to New York City this spring.

As both performer and writer, Ryan is drawn to work that blurs genre, embraces theatricality, and reimagines familiar forms through a queer lens. Recent creative projects (from Shakespeare to musical theatre) celebrate humor, vulnerability, and the radical potential of joy as performance.
